FLAVOURS

Melting flavors- art by Luro

gustatory pleasure
embracing the sweet aftertaste
sugar-coated white lies
boiling within
those melt-in-the-mouth insults
adding to oral injuries
sore gums, all pink
like a cotton candy house
making one drool
just by thinking
sipping sweet syrups
the taste buds jump up
and down and down
sour grapes aren't that sour after all
when the tongue is more bitter
than the bitter gourd itself
and teeth grind like a stone
leaving sparks of spice
tangy compliments
become salty jibes
first caged by the soft palate
way before entering
the narrow canal of the throat
the uvula slithers in glee
to welcome the guests
acidic like vinegar
basic like milk
and neutral like spinach
savour if you can,
all the flavors of your toxins
and tell me
'what's the taste of your own medicine?'
