PAINTING WITH POISON
sweaty palms
holding brushes
touched with poison
rosy pictures are born,
spewing out bitterness
snakes in the grass know better.
masterpieces are made
to stand the test of time
and the sky witnessed
the fall of the artist
purple, green, yellow to the rescue
red, blue and black wear a warning sign
white, orange and pink scream in agony
and the canvas is a reporter
of tragic events, of loss
and suffering
those hands feel the palette
fingers comfort the easel
hiding behind bottles
of poison
and blood trickles down
mixed with hopelessness
on the patient canvas
a portrait of poison
is painted
beauty meets sadness
and love meets madness
to create dreams
that were once destroyed
by poison.
