EARTHQUAKE

Waves - art by Luro

waves crash by my shore
louder by the minute
as I walk on shells
my feet sink
in the loose sand
as if buried in a bog
crabs on their way back,
hiding in tiny holes
ships without anchors
wait for signals
that the light house
never gives
the keeper's warning signs
ring no false alarm
the sea has eyes
that wait for light
before they open
brighter than pearls
sea weeds cover the bed
that corals sleep in
whales and dolphins
come up for air
moment of rapture
for aquatic life
breathing in and out
like serenity
before an earthquake
that impending doom
as calm as the sea horse
and as fierce as the eel.
